Enniscorthy is the second largest town in County Wexford.
Enniscorthy is a really pretty market town with the lovely river Slaney running through town.
Enniscorthy is what we like to call a perfect medium hen sized town – small enough not to get lost in like a city, but big enough to have plenty of choices and lots of fun.
Why Enniscorthy
If history is your gig then Enniscorthy Castle is right in the centre of town and lovely for a walk or a champers picnic.
The Blackstairs Blues festival runs in September which attracts a lot of visitors and could be a good week to have the Hen. There's also the Strawberry Fair in late June or the Enniscorthy Street Rhythms & Dance Festival.
Enniscorthy is on the main N11 to Dublin, so is very easy to travel to from Dublin city or the airport.
It is also very close to Waterford, Cork, Kilkenny, Carlow and Limerick making it a handy spot for those that don’t want to travel too far.
Enniscorthy offers some activities for henparties, including golf, walks and paintballing. Not as much choice as the larger cities, but choice none the less.
If it's a sunny day, why not take a spin out to the beaches on the coast such as Cahore or Kilmuckridge. Or visit beautiful Bunclody, a pretty village nestled in the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains.
Or if you really can't be bothered, just find a pretty spot near the river and chill out for the afternoon.
The night life in Enniscorthy is good - plenty in terms of pubs and clubs.
A note of warning – one of two of the pubs aren’t ‘hen-friendly’ so make a note when you are heading out for the night.
There are plenty of restaurants to chose from in Enniscorthy, with the size of population there. Just let them know in advance that you are a henparty.
Enniscorthy is worth trying for a hen for certain. Several of the hotels offer great packages and there are some great pubs and clubs. Just be mindful of the size of the town. If you are a gang that love a wild night try Wexford or Carlow instead.
