Kells is a pleasant and attractive market town just about 40 miles from Dublin. It has all the commercial and leisure facilities one would expect to find in a modern Irish town. Uniquely, Kells, a living town over a thousand years old has it's ancient and medieval remains everywhere in evidence. A walk through the town will lead visitors to realise that its physical treasures are the monastic layout of the town.

There can be no doubt that if history, archaeology and the fascination of old medieval structures are what you like then you will hit the jackpot in Kells. You will find Ciaran's Well a nearby source of healing, walking tours of Kells, celtic crosses, religious monuments, churches and towers.
For the energetic hens there are several good golf courses, walking tours, fishing, hunting, horse riding and trekking as outdoor options.
If you and your party would like to visit Kells and have it coincide with one of its festivals there are several to look out for.
There’s motorbike racing, the summer festival, the Girley harvest festival or Kells heritage festival. The town also has a great range of other activities including dog shows, antique fares, comedy nights and concerts.
For ladies that just need to chill out and get some pampering there are spas available and more importantly, plenty of great shops some specialising in crafts and beautiful gifts.
