Kilkenny has a reputation as henparty central ! It's packed full of great pubs all full of character and "characters" !!!

There are plenty good places to eat and a few nightclubs. There are places to catch some live music if that's your thing.

Kilkenny is easy to get to. From Dublin, from Waterford, from Cork from the midlands. This has always helped make it a popular hen party choice.

The compact layout of Kilkenny, with it's many pubs and restaurants also make it ideal for a hen. Kilkenny has an welcoming feel to the place. They are used to visitors and the selection of pubs and clubs reflect this.

One useless fact - Kilkenny is called the Marble City, this came about because of the black marble that comes from a quarry nearby which was used in most of the buildings in Kilkenny and also in buildings all over the British Empire.

The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival takes place every June Bank Holiday and is a great idea for a different hen, once you make sure to book your accommodation well in advance. Or if live music is your thing, there's the Kilkenny Rhythm & Roots Festival - normally the May Bank Holiday. Did you ever play Conkers as small girl, well if you did or didn't - why not go to the Irish Conker Championships in Freshford, Co. Kilkenny.
      
Art wise, Kilkenny is known for it's craft shops, jewellers and artisan feel. If this is what fires you up, you will love Kilkenny with it's pretty, crooked streets and pokey shops.
      
Shopping is generally very good, with more than the average big names available in a town, versus a city. Kilkenny also trades highly on the reputation it has for its excellent boutiques. Maybe pick up something for the big day.
      
There are several hotels located on the outskirts of the city and a short walk or taxi ride into town. There are also more central options available, catering for most budgets.
      
Kilkenny Castle and Gardens are worth a visit if you are on for an amble around town - have a picnic in the Gardens.

If you are looking for activities, Kilkenny has most and in fact more than the norm, as they deal in many hen parties and actively look for business. Paintball, craft making, spa weekend – there are plenty to chose from.

Nightclub wise there are a few to chose from, with several late bars. All are close to town. As with the pubs, some may have issue with wearing henparty gear going in, so be prepared to take it off.
             
If you want to be the only hen party in town, Kilkenny is not the spot for you as you are guaranteed to meet several others. On the flip side, you are also guaranteed to meet a couple of Stags.
      
There are some pretty cool pubs in Kilkenny, with many playing live music or trad. Kilkenny has a great reputation as a place to go for a good night out. The atmosphere on a weekend night is always hopping in the pubs and you will never be short of a place to go dancing.
      
Some pubs however, are no longer hen friendly and the party may be asked to remove their dressing up gear, or even refused entry. Do some research ahead of time.
