County Offaly is located in the Irish midlands. The county is known for its extensive Bog lands, water ways, the beautiful SlieveBloomMountains and national park and Birr castle which once housed the world’s biggest telescope.
The main towns in the county are Birr and Tullamore.
There are many attractions and activities in the county to suit all hen parties.
On the historical side, a visit to An Dun Transport and Heritage Museum, Clonmacnoise, an early Christian site established by Saint Ciaran in the 6th. Centaury and the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre are top of the list.
An excellent to start the hen weekend would be a railway bog tour that takes 45 minutes that outlines the history and heritage of the 12.000 year old bogs.

For the more energetic, the county offers a wide range of activities including hill walking, Horse riding, pony trekking, cycling, Shooting, 10 pin bowling, all kinds of water sports and river cruises.
Both Birr and Tullamore have plenty of top class and budget hotels and a great choice of restaurants, bars and night life.
The main Dublin to Galway railway line runs through the county which makes a great alternitive way to travel and takes the stress out of long drives
