Kinsale is one of those places where, even though you are not too far from a major city, you could be anywhere.

As a tourist hot spot and the gourmet capital of Ireland, there are constantly changing faces in Kinsale. If you were to call into a pub in Kinsale at the weekend you are likely to meet a couple of locals, four German tourists, an American couple that have moved to the area, and a rugby team (yes rugby team).

The Kinsale Rugby 7's are held in May every year. (Consider this a tip).

There are several sailing regattas, as well as the Rugby 7's, Point to Point events, Jazz weekends, a comedy festival and gourmet festivals.
      
Activities wise Kinsale is on the Southern coast of Ireland so there are plenty of watersports available in the area from canoeing to windsurfing, to sailing, to surfing itself on Garretstown beach.
      
There are also plenty of horse riding schools and stables in the Kinsale area if you prefer something on dry land. Many of the beaches in the Kinsale area are very beautiful and on a sunny day would make ideal locations for a champagne picnic or lunch - Summercove, Garretstown or Oysterhaven.

Charles Fort is a seriously impressive example of a 17th Century Fort and worth a picnic lunch outing. Trust us.

If art and crafts are your thing there is plenty to see in Kinsale with exhibitions by local artists and some permanent photography and craft displays.
      
Kinsale is such a pretty town, with its twisted lanes and nooks and crannies,  an afternoon simply wandering around would be perfect for a Hen. Stop in some of the arts and crafts shops, have a drink in one of the many cafes, walk along the waterfront and down by the yacht club. Go mad - go for a cruise around the harbour for the afternoon.
      
If you simply want to find a pub for the afternoon you will not be disappointed in Kinsale. Most of the beaches have watering holes and in town itself there are plenty of pubs to chose from.

Kinsale isn't called the Gourmet Capital of Ireland for nothing. At every turn there is a restaurant or cafe that will serve good food, especially good fish.
      
Kinsale has many many pubs to choose from. Some relaxed pubs, some formal pubs, some biker pubs! Many do food, many do entertainment, most do seriously good fun.

There are a couple of nightclubs in town and several late bars, so no fear of an early night after last call.
