Welcome to Dingle

Once cited as “the most beautiful place on earth” by the National Geographic; it was voted among the top 100 destinations in the world by Trip Advisor; CNN recently recommended it as a very favourable winter destination; it is also listed as one of the top ten places to be on New Year's Eve.

All these accolades refer to the stunningly beautiful Dingle peninsula in County Kerry.

Why Dingle

There are so many things to see, to do, to explore, to experience on the Dingle Peninsula, from almost 2000 archaeological sites, to more walking than you could fit in a year, to Fungie, a bottle nosed dolphin who has been living in the bay since about 1984, to a day spent on the Blasket Islands or a day touring round the peninsula, enjoying nature in its most beautiful and rawness. The sheer majesty of Slea Head where scenes from the film, Ryan’s daughter were filmed, the pottery works of the world famous Louis Mulcahy at Clogher strand, the Irish speaking pubs and Shops in Ballyferriter, the Dunbeg promontory fort and visitor centre, the Dingle Music school, the walking on the peninsula, a paradise for walkers, the thrill of bird watching, the invigoration of a cycle ride, the unspoilt walk on the beautiful Dingle Golf Links in Ballyferriter, belting into   the local mountains on horseback, getting the salt spray on your face as you spend some time sea angling or just chilling out in the local shops and sea food restaurants as you squeeze the life out of the plastic card.

There can be no doubt, that this part of the world was one of the first that God made and for a weekend away on a Henparty it would be hard to beat.

After dark, the town buzzes to the sound of traditional music as it pours out on to the quaint streets humming with smiling faces from all over the globe.

Here's a tip, before your trip to Dingle go on a diet as you will surely put on weight just from the aromatic smells wafting out of the superb steakhouses and out of this world seafood restaurants.

Accommodation ranges from top class hotels with superb restaurants, fine wines, music, spa and relaxation treatment centres to the homely bed and breakfast and the ultra modern self catering units.

To get to Dingle, take the road to Killarney and follow the signs or the cyclist with “going to dingle” on his back.
