Dundalk has got to be an ideal choice of destination for a henparty, not only because it’s half way between Belfast and Dublin but because it has so many fantastic things to see and do.
It’s a real go-ahead town making its mark in the educational sector with its own Institute of Technology, in the sporting sector with a League of Ireland soccer club and the first dual purpose all weather horse racing and dog racing flood lit track in Ireland.
Dundalk also has Ireland’s first indoor 5-a-side soccer stadium and a brilliant ice-rink that will provide lessons for beginners.
There are many other activities on the Dundalk menu such as, horse riding with lessons for adults, pony trekking, bowling, hill walking, fishing and sightseeing.
If you fancy some retail therapy, the town is bursting with some great shops and shopping centres, all within easy walking distance of the town centre.
For those with an interest in all things beautiful, there are parks and gardens worth looking at.
Check out the County Museum, a former tobacco warehouse dating back to the 18th. Century and now the home of Louth’s History and Heritage exhibitions. The Presbyterian Church in Jocelyn Street dates back to 1839.
Seatown Windmill built in the 19th Century was once the largest windmill in Ireland.
The Dundalk courthouse is modelled on the Theseus in Athens.
Cu Chulainn’s Castle, the site regarded as the home of the legendary hero built in 1180. From the top of the motte there are amazing views of Dundalk Bay.

The town has a bustling night life so if you are looking for a quiet drink, live music or traditional Irish pub meals you will definitely find what you are looking for in Dundalk’s lively pub scene. There are also some great live music and comedy venues.
