Welcome to Tipperary

It's a long way to Tipperary, it's a long way to go ... as the song goes. Actually it's not really, located on the N24 between Limerick and Waterford and with Limerick Junction station only a few miles away on the Cork - Dublin train line, Tipp town, as it's called locally, is very accessible.

Why Tipperary

As we said in the intro, one of the main things that makes Tipp attractive to hen parties is is that it is very accessible for a hen that has friends coming from everywhere. King John built a castle here in the 12th Century and the town grew from there to the country town you see today. It's not the county town of Tipperary as you might think, Clonmel is the county town of South Tipperary and Nenagh is the capital of North Tipperary.

Go to the Races just a few miles out the Limerick Road, the horses are very big in Tipp (no need to be confused Limerick Junction is in Co. Tipp, where both the Racecourse and the Train Station are located). Races run from mid April to October.

A great time to visit Tipp is when the Pride of Tipperary Festival is on, this celebration lasts 6 weeks. There's all sorts of Fashion, Gala Balls, pride parties and race meetings. There is a competition for young women to be crowned "The Pride of Tipperary". This festival is in its 46th year and raises significant funds for charity each year.

With the Glen of Aherlow nearby and the Galtee Mountains not far away, this is a beautiful part of the country, there are plenty of activities to do around here. This is a small town so no one is going to get lost yet there are more than a few pubs to enjoy a drink in and a nightclub.

Accommodation is plentiful with a choice of hotels, bed and breakfast establishments and self catering apartments and town houses.
