Spring Hen Party Ideas

At the moment it’s either cold, dark, miserable or wet. And in some cases, it’s all four. I’m a sun worshipper and I’m missing the sun and the warmth big time. I keep telling myself it won’t be long, and the days will be getting longer again. Temperatures will begin to rise and the anticipation to my besties Hen Party weekend in the Spring will be on top of me. Spring is such a great time for a Hen especially if you have a few weddings coming up in the summer months. So, if you’re thinking of a hen party weekend this spring. Here are a few of my favourite Spring Hen Party Ideas!

So, for my friend’s spring hen party we’re heading to Kilkenny. It’s a really popular spot for Hens and I’ve always had a brilliant night out anytime I’ve been. We’re planning on staying in the Kilford Arms Hotel. They’re based in the Kilkenny city centre at the heart of all the action. They do brilliant hen party packages so do make sure to drop them a line. It’s the perfect spot to kick off our hen weekend!

Even though we’re off to Kilkenny, I had been pushing the girls to head to Donegal for the hen. I was there earlier this year for a wedding and it is simply breathtaking. Bundoran is a fantastic lively spot for hens with so many activities on offer from surfing to horse riding. It also has some brilliant bars and clubs that will help to give your hen a proper send-off.

As with all hen party planning, a few of the girls did suggest a few different locations. Dublin is one of them and that we should head out one of the nights to ‘Hogs & Heifers’ to indulge! I had a look at their menu and just yum. But it gets better for hens as they do a brilliant deal for €25 which includes a 2-course meal, followed by a glass of bubbly and entry to the night club the Wright Venue!

You’ll definitely need to dance off the food these guys serve up!

If you fancy some fine dining ladies, then you can always opt to pop into Wrights Café Bar who is running a similar deal. But with a few added extras. You’ll enjoy a glass of bubbly on arrival, a choice of the main course. A cocktail of your choice and entry into the club with a DJ and dancing till late. If you fancy more than one cocktail. I’d suggest trying their cocktail making class which is only €15pp.

Also, suggested to the group if we went with a Dublin Hen Party was to pop along to Silver Works. We’d spend an afternoon creating a silver ring or charm from scratch. We’d enjoy a glass of bubbly while laughing, chatting, bonding with the group while learning a new craft. For a creative person like myself, this sounded amazing and would be a fantastic keepsake from a great hen party weekend.

As I mentioned earlier, we are off to Kilkenny on my friends Hen. We all came to the agreement that we wanted to do something completely different. So, we’re heading out to Nore Valley Park Farm this spring to spend a day laughing and having a bit of fun. We’re going to try our hand at shepherding, welly tossing, a wheelbarrow race and a game called ‘Catch the Cock’. It’s going to a memorable and fun experience on this farm I can guarantee.

We did find it difficult deciding on what hen party activity to choose if I’m honest. So, we decided to do 2 on this hen party weekend. We got in touch with Oh So Sweet Occasions who are the Afternoon Tea Extraordinaires. They provide a tea party service and they come to you. They’ll style it to your own requirements and look after everything. You’ll get to enjoy delicious sandwiches, scones, cakes, tea and coffee. But if you fancy something a little stronger you can bring your own prosecco, gin or cocktails and they’ll serve them in pretty teacups and champagne saucers. It’s going to be a great hen.

As Spring Hen Party Ideas go, you can’t go wrong with a hen party weekend in Athlone. It’s a brilliant town for a fantastic hen party weekend. I’m just back from a hen there recently and we stayed in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel. I stayed in a beautiful two-bedroom suite with 4 of the girls. It was so spacious, had 2 ensuites which are important when we are all getting ready and had a sitting room area. It’s the perfect accommodation for hen parties’ ladies.

While I was on that Athlone Hen, we decided to do some Karting. It was brilliant fun and the bride to be loved it! The guys in Pallas Karting were brilliant on the day and so much fun. We went to the Athlone track, but they are also in Galway, Limerick and Ennis. And if Karting isn’t your thing you can try Paintball or even Splatball. We were all buzzing after it ladies and it was a great way to kick off the hen in Athlone. Make sure to check them out.

Lastly on our list for Spring Hen Party Ideas is having a hen party weekend in Derry! I was there recently on a weekend break and it was an incredible city. I was saying it to all the girls that should head there for the weekend or for a hen party weekend. I stayed at the White Horse hotel who were brilliant from the moment we arrived.
