Ask Claire; Joint Hen Party or Not?

This week’s query comes in from Sarah and Jenny who are getting married next year and don’t know whether to have a joint hen or not?

“Hi Claire, our names are Sarah and Jenny. We got engaged just after the referendum last year. We have been enjoying our engagement for the past while but now it’s time to start organising. We have the wedding all booked, the only thing left to plan is our hen parties. We don’t know whether to have a joint hen or not?”

Claire’s Advice
Hi Sarah and Jenny, thanks a mill for the fab question :) Congrats on the engagement, delighted for you both. Deciding on whether to have a joint hen/stag do or not is a question on many couples minds, same-sex or otherwise. When you share the same group of friends it is often tempting to throw just one big party for everyone to enjoy and save on the expenses.

You do need to keep in mind, although you want to spend the rest of your lives together the hen party is your last shindig as single girls. Do you want to spend that with just your friends or do you want your other half there too? Also, the ideal hen for one of you could be a nightmare for the other, it’s your day so make sure you do something you’ll love! Be a little selfish ;)

If you want the best of both worlds, why not go your separate ways during the day portion of the hen and meet up for dinner and drinks that night? Always remember the hen party is all about you ladies so do what feel is right for you both, there are no rules :)
