Ask Claire; Hen Party on a Budget

Ask Claire Image jpg
This week’s query comes in from Katie who needs to organise a hen party for her friend Denise on a budget.

“Hi Claire, my name’s Katie. My friend Denise just asked me to be a bridesmaid, absolutely delighted! Denise has already given me a few guidelines of how she wants the hen party to be, one of the main things is that it needs to be on a strict budget. There are a lot of family members travelling home from different countries so she wants to make it as affordable as possible for them. Can you help me out, please? “

Claire's Advice
Hi Katie, thanks so much for the great question and email.

Planning a hen party on a budget doesn’t have to be as hard as it sounds. One of our favourite ways to have an affordable hen is to host it yourself. With the perfect hen party games and ideas, you and the rest of the ladies will be having a great time!

Decorate your house in the theme of the weekend, black and white, pink etc and serve hen party type foods like a willy cake and jelly willies. For the drinks serve cocktails named after the bride to be and pink champagne for the toast. (Don’t forget the willy straws for the cocktails!)

If the bride-to-be wants to go out for the night you could always get a bus or taxi to the nearest city and come back to your house again for a hen party slumber party, saving you all money on the hotel!

To take the pressure off you a little ask all of the girls to make something for the day or bring some decorations. I’m sure they won’t mind helping out and it will mean any costs will be kept low and split between the group!
