Ask Claire; Planning a Hen Party from Abroad

Ask Claire Image jpg
This week’s query comes in from Kate who is living in Australia and is planning her sister’s hen party in Cork next summer. How can Kate plan a hen party from all the way in Australia?

“Hi Claire, Kate here. I’m planning my sister’s hen party for next summer. At the moment the only thing that’s definite is that we are having it in Cork, that was the one request from the bride to be. At the moment I’m finding it really hard to plan things, the time difference really is a major issue! Any ideas that could help me out?”

Claire's Advice
Hi Kate, this is a brilliant question. You wouldn’t believe how many people get in touch with us from Oz, America and beyond organising a hen party for Ireland. It can be really hard but there are a few things that will definitely make the process a little easier.

If your sister is having some more bridesmaids you should get them involved in the planning process, especially if they’re still in Ireland. Plan weekly meetings that suit all of you, maybe at the weekends or some other time that you both agree on. Set out what needs to be done/what is left to do in each meeting and divide these up amongst all the girls. You’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll get the hen party planned.

If it’s just you as a bridesmaid just ask a few of the bride’s closest friends to give you a hand with the things you can’t do from Oz like getting the accessories or record the groom’s answers to the Mr and Mrs Quiz. I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to help.

So planning a hen party from across the world is a lot easier than you think it just needs a little extra thought!
